By using RibaFarms, you agree to these terms. We have written them in plain language so you know exactly what you are signing up for.
Please read these terms carefully before using RibaFarms. By creating an account or making a transaction, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a RibaFarms account and use the marketplace. If you are between 14 and 17 years old, you may only use RibaFarms with the explicit consent of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
RibaFarms is designed for users within the Republic of Kenya. By using the platform, you represent that your farming or buying activities are primarily Kenya-based. Cross-border transactions may be subject to additional verification.
Each individual or business entity may hold one RibaFarms account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent Trust Score penalties, dispute outcomes, or platform bans is prohibited and will result in permanent suspension.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your profile updated. Providing false information — including fake farm locations, inflated produce volumes, or invalid phone numbers — is a violation of these Terms.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Any activity conducted through your account is your responsibility. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at info@ribafarms.com or +254 722 139 724.
You may not transfer, sell, or assign your account to another person. You may not use another user's account. You may not use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to interact with the platform.
All produce listings must accurately reflect the actual goods you have available. Quantity, quality grade, harvest date, and location must be truthful. RibaFarms reserves the right to remove listings that are misleading, inaccurate, or fraudulent.
The following are prohibited on the RibaFarms marketplace: stolen produce, counterfeit agro-inputs, prohibited pesticides or chemicals, wildlife products, and any items banned under Kenyan law. Violation results in immediate account suspension and reporting to relevant authorities.
Farmers are responsible for the accuracy of freshness tracking information provided on listings. Buyers who receive produce materially different from the listing description may file a dispute within 24 hours of delivery.
All transactions on RibaFarms use M-Pesa escrow. When a buyer confirms a purchase, funds are held by RibaFarms until the buyer confirms receipt and satisfaction. Funds are released to the farmer within 24 hours of buyer confirmation, or automatically after 48 hours if no dispute is raised.
Step 1: Buyer sends payment to the RibaFarms M-Pesa Paybill. Step 2: RibaFarms holds funds in escrow and notifies the farmer to dispatch. Step 3: Farmer dispatches and marks order as shipped. Step 4: Buyer confirms receipt. Step 5: RibaFarms releases payment to farmer's M-Pesa, minus platform commission.
RibaFarms charges a platform commission on completed transactions. Current commission rates are displayed during listing creation and at checkout. Commission is deducted from the farmer's payout — buyers pay the listed price inclusive of commission.
Refunds are processed in the following situations: (a) the farmer cancels the order before dispatch; (b) the buyer raises a successful dispute within 24 hours of delivery; (c) the order is confirmed as fraudulent. Refunds are returned to the buyer's M-Pesa within 3–5 business days.
If an M-Pesa payment fails or times out, the order is automatically cancelled. No funds are charged. If funds were debited but the transaction failed, contact Safaricom support and copy info@ribafarms.com for resolution.
Buyers may raise a dispute within 24 hours of delivery confirmation by navigating to Order History → the relevant order → Raise Dispute. Disputes raised after 24 hours will not be eligible for escrow reversal.
RibaFarms reviews all disputes within 2 business days. We may request photos, delivery records, or M-Pesa statements from either party. Both parties will be notified of the outcome via SMS and in-app notification.
If the dispute is decided in the buyer's favour, a full or partial refund is issued and the farmer's Trust Score is impacted. If decided in the farmer's favour, payment is released and the buyer's dispute record is noted. Repeated frivolous disputes may result in account restrictions.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a dispute, you may escalate by emailing info@ribafarms.com with the subject "Dispute Escalation — [Order ID]." Escalated disputes are reviewed by a senior team member within 5 business days.
RibaFarms is a marketplace platform that connects farmers and buyers. We do not grow, harvest, store, or transport produce. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or delivery of goods exchanged between users.
We strive for 99.9% platform uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for losses arising from planned or unplanned maintenance, connectivity issues, or third-party service outages (Safaricom, Supabase, etc.).
RibaFarms is not liable for failure to perform obligations due to events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government actions, strikes, or widespread internet outages.
To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, RibaFarms' total liability to any user for any claim arising from use of the platform shall not exceed the total platform commissions paid by that user in the 90 days preceding the claim.
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify users via email and in-app notification at least 7 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If any part of these Terms is unclear, reach out before transacting. We are happy to explain.
